We must be very careful in attributing the authorship of so many works of art to Aleijadinho. In each type of work done by the Master there are several very personal characteristics: proportions, marks of the chisel, number of folds in the garments.
Aleijadinho was not the only santeiro, seal-setter, sculptor, planner, piece worker of his time: Antônio Francisco Pombal, Domingos Marques, João Gomes Batista, José Coelho de Noronha, José Fernandes Pinto de Alpoim, Felipe Vieira, Manuel Rodrigues Coelho, Antônio Coelho da Fonseca, Pedro Gomes Chaves.

In the files and books of the many religious orders (Franciscan, Carmelita, Benedictine) as well as those of established parishes in Ouro Preto, several receipts written for various artistic works by Aleijadinho are found. Arguments based on these receipts make possible the atribution of hundreds of works to the authorship of the Master himself at all State.
